This is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. The building is just gorgeous, with a covered courtyard for eating, a good sized pool and several terraced areas covered in lush green plants and cacti. It feels very Oaxacan with brightly coloured walls and tiling. The location is perfect, just two blocks from the main pedestrianised street which links the Zocalo to the other main square. Leave the hotel and you are in the thick of things within 3 minutes - the hotel is a perfect oasis from all that hustle and bustle when you're sitting on a quiet terrace or chilling in the pool.

We have loved our stay at hotel Casantica! The location is spectacular and the building is so unique. It was once a 16th century convent. Each room is a little different. We booked the presidential suite for our family of 5 and it was huge and perfect. What I appreciate most is the accuracy of the photos they post. We had several other families in our party (36 people in total) and we were all in love with the service, attentiveness of the staff and the amazing cleanliness of the rooms. I highly recommend this location if you are looking for a unique and very Oaxacan experience. Notes- this is a colonial Spanish style building where the rooms primarily open up onto 2 large inner courtyards or several smaller courtyards. It helps keep the rooms cool, quiet and dark for sleeping and the walls are so thick that most noise is blocked out. If you need a lot of sunshine, there are very few rooms that open onto the street and you’ll likely need to request them specifically. We were here at Christmas time. The pool is not warm but the kids in our party loved it nonetheless. It’s beautifully maintained. The attached restaurant serves great food. We enjoyed breakfast here almost every day due to the high quality food and great service at very reasonable prices. The staff continue bar service late into the evening which we enjoyed several nights. For a large party, I don’t think this spot can be beat. There are many tables for groups to gather and socialize together and the kids loved exploring all of the staircases and courtyards. I cannot thank the staff of Casantica enough. We had a truly unforgettable time!

We arrived around 10 pm at the airport and you can take a shared shuttle. We were with about 8 others and didn't know what to expect but we were the 1st to be dropped off. Turns out it was an excellent location. The hotel ambiance is over the top beautiful. One of the complaints one might find are how small the rooms are. We had a junior suite on the 2nd floor and by American standards was basically a small hotel room. Therefore, be aware when you book the size of the room may or may not be suitable for your needs. I think there might be better values out there but the staff, having the restaurant there, cleanliness of hotel, and location made it a decent value.

The location is fantastic, a couple of minutes walk to the main parts of the city. The swimming pool is great, hardly anyone used it so we had good swims in it but not sure how busy the hotel was. The hotel itself is absolutely lovely if you are looking for a truly authentic Mexican hotel. Friendly staff.

In this converted convent most rooms open into a central open air 2 storey courtyard that allows natural light to stream into the rooms. The architecture is beautiful and filled with historic items. Staff were very welcoming and helpful when we requested a different room - the first floor rooms don't enjoy the same natural light so we moved to the second floor.

The hotel’s architecture and furnishing is really cute and quaint. The pool was also a treat to have especially since it was really hot during my stay.

the building is really cool and has different places to chill, the pool, roof terrace, tables and chairs dotted around and you can get beers and coffee from the restaurant bar which is great. a lovely woman made me coffee each morning which was a treat. the staff were helpful and friendly but left you to it. it’s a little bit scruffy in places around the pool but it’s part of the charm with an old building. they have a water cooler to fill up bottles which I found so helpful as most places don’t have that and you end up buying lots of plastic. location is perfect!!

Love the location and the pool. This is a very Mexican hotel. Just be careful of all the stairs and steps. This place is a bit of a maze. I even had additional steps down into my room. All in all, a great little place to stay in downtown Oaxaca. They have filtered water which is amazing.

The hotel is beautiful and the location could not possibly be better - you're five minutes' walk from the Zocalo, five minutes from Santo Domingo, and about 15 minutes from Xochimilco by foot. Restaurants are everywhere. The downside to being centrally located is the street noise, which is probably an issue everywhere in Centro Oaxaca. If you want quiet, ask for a room in the back of the building - but know that you'll then have no view. The beds were on the hard side, which we appreciated - very comfortable for us.
